Writer's Workshop

In Writer's Workshop, we work together as a class to develop habits of good writers, and learn the steps of the writing process. Students will learn how to take their ideas and turn them into published works. We celebrate these achievements by having "publishing parties," where each child is recognized as the author of a finished product.

We do lots of interactive writing, where we create lists or sentences together as a group so students become familiar and comfortable with writing before they are expected to do it themselves. Writer's Workshop also allows for individual conferences, where students will have the opportunity to meet with me personally to talk about their writing and get individual feedback.

Just as writing and reading go hand in hand, Writer's Workshop is closely tied in with our Reader's Workshop model.
